Establishment of Training Center in Dhahran Base

The Training Center was established at Arabian Drilling Company’s Dhahran Base in 1993. Over the decades, we have continuously expanded our facilities and capabilities, marking significant milestones that reflect our commitment towards growth and excellence.

IWCF Accreditation

A cornerstone of our technical training is Well Control, accredited by the International Well Control Forum (IWCF). We have maintained this accreditation through multiple cycles, demonstrating our dedication to international standards and best practices in well control education.

In our pursuit of hands-on excellence, we deployed and operated the CS Portable drilling and well control simulator. This simulator allows trainees to experience real-world scenarios in a controlled environment, enhancing both safety and technical proficiency.

Well Control Accreditation under IADC

We achieved accreditation for Well Control under the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) Well Control Accreditation Program (WellCAP). This recognition underscores our adherence to global benchmarks and our role as a leader in technical training.

2012 saw the deployment and operation of the CS Cyber Chair drilling and well control simulator. This cutting-edge technology provides immersive training, preparing our workforce for the complexities of modern drilling operations.

HSI Partnership

In 2013, we partnered with the Health & Safety Institute (HSI) to offer First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS) training. This accreditation ensured our trainees were equipped with essential life-saving skills, reinforcing our commitment to safety.

IADC WellSharp Accreditation

2015 was a landmark year, as we became the first training provider outside the USA to obtain IADC WellSharp accreditation. We also started delivering training in Accident Investigation, Root Cause Analysis, and Drilling Technology, under IADC Drilling Industry Training (DIT), further broadening our courses portfolio.

In 2016, we introduced the IADC DIT accredited H2S Train The Trainer program, empowering our instructors and field RSTC’s to deliver advanced safety training related to hazardous environments.

Major Simulator Expansion Initiative

This year marked a significant expansion in our simulator capabilities, with the deployment of the DS 5000 Full Size Hand Brake, DS 600 Full Size Cyber, DS 20 Portable drilling simulators, and the KS 6000 Full Size Offshore Crane simulator. These additions ensure our training remains at the forefront of industry technology.

In 2019, we achieved ISO:29993:2017 accreditation for learning services outside formal education, and ISO:9001:2015 for our Quality Management System. These international standards validate our commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

This year also also saw the introduction of new IADC DIT programs, including Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, First Aid and CPR, Hazardous Material Communication, and Rigging and Lifting. Each program is accredited and designed to address and enhance critical safety and operational competencies.

Finally, in 2025, we achieved registration with The Technical and Vocational Training Corporation, further solidifying our Vision of becoming a premier training provider in the region.
